Mal Karlin

Prior to the formation of Karlin+Pimsler, Inc. in October 1994, Mal held the position of
Executive Vice President, Executive Creative Director at Draft Worldwide (now Draft-FCB) with global creative responsibilities including; Home Box Office (HBO), NYNEX Mobile Communications, AT&T, Upjohn Pharmaceuticals, American Express, Phillips Electronics, Time Warner Cable, Paine Webber, Avis International, Fidelity Investments, Polaroid, British Airways, Primerica, Cunard Cruise Lines and others.

Mal has more than 30 years of advertising experience in both direct marketing and general advertising. Before joining Draft, he was a senior vice president and creative director at Wunderman Worldwide. Mal's Creative responsibilities were; Kodak, AT&T, US ARMY, Andersen Consulting (now Accenture), Entertainment Weekly, Holiday Inn, to name a few. He has also held senior creative positions in direct and general advertising at Lowe Direct, Y&R, Grey, Bates Worldwide, and DMB&B.

Listed in Who's Who Worldwide as a direct marketing industry leader, Mal is a former board member of the Direct Marketing Creative Guild and has been a speaker at eight DMA conferences as well as a frequent speaker at Direct Marketing Day NY and John Caples Awards. Mal has been a key-note speaker at Advertising Age Creative Conference, Direct Marketing for Women's Advertising Club, National Cable TV Conference, National DRTV Conference and Southern California Pioneer Awards.

Mal has lectured at both Columbia University and NYU Schools of Business, School of Visual Arts, Ithaca College and Cornell University. Adweek named Mal one of advertising's "biggest award winners." With over 60 major creative awards to his credit, both clients and colleagues value his innovative business concepts and original thinking.

Mal has developed and produced "SportsFigures" a cable in the classroom show for ESPN 2 . As well as "Voices Of the Game" a 90 minute television special (anthology of the announcers of baseball) for ESPN. Mal has written and illustrated a children's book called "Elephants Make Great House Pets" and has written" Tomorrow's News", a screenplay that turned into a hit TV show on CBS called "Early Edition". Alsocreated, produced and directed a half-hour comedy pilot for TV called "Jokin' Around Town".

A commercial producer, director, writer, fine artist , and an avid runner, Mal has two daughters and lives in Manhattan with his wife Diana and Shih-Tzu named Maybel.
